Gradient by *CabinTom

some postwork in Gimp 2.0

actually this one is almost half a year old... i'm not that creative at the moment

redone with some minor changes (removed some artifacts i did not want to show) and rendered at a higher res.

edit:
many thanks to =FarDareisMai for the input. i think i would not have redone this in respect of the quality.
and a great thank you to our beloved ^Platinus

In all honesty, Love is in the Air by =Nirolo left me speechless. Wonderful colors, awesome details, and great composition make this an incredibly impressive piece. It just blows my mind! (Featured by ^Platinus)

I wish the image quality was just a little bit better. Where the background gradient meets the fractal, I can see jagged lines and jpeg artifacts. The fractal itself is very, VERY cool. I think if you rendered it larger (like, 4-5 times larger) and then sized it down in post-processing, your image quality would be improved and you could show this fractal off to its highest potential.

I'm very glad for your critique. I'm rendering the flame at a 4 times higher res now. I saw the jagged lines too, but yesterday i did not care much about them. Now i see some other things that disturb me... (coming from the jpg compression). I don't know if there is a technique to size the flame down correctly. If you know one please tell me.

can u mk a tutorial on this? pic is so realistic

Well, what I usually do is size it down in Gimp using the "Image > Scale" option on the menu. I'm sure there is a similar function in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or whatever image software you use. After sizing it down, I *sometimes* run a sharpening filter on it, depending on the fractal. Then, I save it as a .png, with no compression. This is probably the most important step. Sure, the filesize is a bit larger, but it's not *that* big, and it comes out looking so nice that it is worth it.

Hope that helps. :)

I'm using Gimp. But no compression on png would be kinda too much. Although i will not use jpg anymore.. some ppl complained about the high loadtimes coming with png but it's just worth the time waiting (even with compression)
So thank's for your input :)
